HEAD Lynx Touch Tennis String

HEAD Lynx Touch is a co-polyester monofilament engineered specifically for players who want the spin and control characteristics of a performance poly, but with a softer, more forgiving response than standard firm-textured strings. It sits in the comfort-oriented segment of HEAD's Lynx family, offering a smoother impact and a more cushioned feel while still supporting the aggressive, high-RPM groundstrokes that define modern baseline tennis.

  • Comfort-Oriented Co-Poly Formula — Lynx Touch uses a modified polyester compound that is intentionally softer than HEAD's firmer control strings like Lynx and Lynx Tour. The result is a string that produces less shock transmission at contact, making it a meaningful upgrade in comfort for players who have experienced arm fatigue or elbow irritation with harder, firmer polyesters while still wanting the precision and spin of the co-poly category.
  • Round Profile for Smooth, Consistent Feel — Unlike shaped strings designed to maximize string movement and snap-back spin, Lynx Touch uses a clean round cross-section that prioritizes a uniform, predictable response across the entire string bed. This translates into a more consistent feel from shot to shot — particularly useful for players who rely on touch and variety rather than brute topspin production.
  • Solid Spin Potential Without Excess Firmness — While not as aggressive a spin generator as a hexagonal or sharply-shaped co-poly, Lynx Touch still provides meaningful ball bite and RPM on topspin groundstrokes. Players who want to hit with shape and depth from the baseline will find it supportive, and the softer compound helps maintain decent string movement and snap-back even as tension gradually relaxes with use.
  • Better Tension Retention Than Multifilaments — Co-polyester strings hold tension considerably longer than synthetic gut or multifilament strings, meaning Lynx Touch maintains its characteristic feel and response for a greater number of playing hours before the string bed goes dead. Players who restring infrequently will appreciate the extended playability window compared to softer string options.
  • Ideal Player Profile — Best suited for intermediate to advanced players (NTRP 3.5–5.0) who have previously played polyester and enjoyed the control and spin, but want to reduce arm impact — particularly those with developing elbow sensitivities, moderate swing speeds, or racquets with higher stiffness ratings where string softness provides meaningful shock relief.
  • Specifications — Available in 17g (1.25 mm) gauge. Recommended tension 48–58 lbs; string at the lower end of the range for maximum comfort and plushness. Approximately 40 ft (12.2 m) per set.

Lynx Touch pairs especially well with stiffer racquets (RA 65+) where reducing string bed firmness meaningfully improves overall arm comfort — consider stringing 2–4 lbs lower than your usual poly tension on first use to find your ideal comfort–control balance.
